Under interim department head Brock Theiner, Seward County Road & Bridge has made major inroads and plans toward rehabilitation and maintenance of gravel roads in the county. The plans extend well beyond the four miles of Road O presently being rebuilt and the four miles of Road P scheduled immediately after O.
Our blade operators will now be provided professional training while all aspects of road maintenance from crowns to culvert cleaning will be placed on a scheduled basis. Within just a few years of a new maintenance schedule, our hard-working road and bridge crews should have crowns rebuilt, roads draining better and have the time to attend to known problem areas as well as those that arise.
Seward County has 446 miles of gravel roadways, 100 miles of dirt roadways and 137 miles of paved roadway under county maintenance. 28 miles of paved roadway are scheduled for resurfacing in 2025.
